Hogs and Hog Traps

The hogs are cautious of traps.   The adults might stick their heads in the trap drop, but normally will not enter.

Now pigs are less cautious.   They will occasionally enter the trap for a meal.

There are two pigs in this trap.   The trigger wire is placed high.   They will not trip the gate.    We are trying to encourage mom and dad to enter.  Hopefully, they will see kids enjoying pile of corn and decide to enter.   In this case, that did not happen.

They walked all around the trap.   Ate the corn at the mouth of the trap, but would not enter.  They are encouraging the use of Tannerite.

And then the temptation was just too much for this guy.

Trapping is not efficient method of controlling feral hogs.  Oh you might catch one out of twenty or so, but that’s losing ground when considering total numbers.
