It fun time catching blue catfish on flagging jugs

Sandy is our lake neighbor.

She is holding one nice blue catfish

caught on a flagging jug using live perch for bait.

Blues are still biting

When mom holds up this nice blue cat,

her beautiful baby is sorta ok.

When papaw holds up the same blue cat fish,

check out the baby’s bottom lip.

circle hooks

I prefer circle hooks for catfish.

The Mustad 10/0 is a good heavy hook.

Well it was not strong enough

as a big fish straighten it

and kept going.

it happened again!

In the same area as before,

one of my smaller jug channel cat has been mauled

by a larger catfish.

He better be careful

as I am looking for him to make one

small mistake.

pretty bird on Toledo Bend Lake

This Bald Eagle was preoccupied

and allowed me to get very close

before flying.

March 30, 2012

fishing can be dangerous

I hooked a large blue cat fish on my flagging jug

and brought him into the boat.

He flopped a couple of times

hitting my leg with one of his fins.

It went to the bone.

I cleaned the wound,

added large band-aid

and back to jug fishing.

another blue cat on a flagging jug!

Yes, I was surprise when I checked my minnow trap.

The minnow trap is used to catch non game fish

to be used on my fishing jugs.

The snake went into the trap to get a small perch

and could not get out.

He was near death due to drowning.

I don’t think he was a poisonous snake.
