On The Bright Side – Mary Howell

Filed under: Mary Howell — Freddie Keel @ 6:08 am

The days of October have been filled with fun activities at Hemphill Care Center.  We participated in the health fair at the Senior Citizen Center on October 5.

In celebration of Columbus Day the Lake Area Hospice clowns came and entertained us with songs and skits.

We were pleased with worship services and sings sponsored by First Baptist Church, Church of Christ, Fairdale Baptist Church, Bethel Chapel Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church, Community Fellowship, Parkway Baptist and  Latter Day Saints. Church.

We enjoyed a lively toe tap concert with the Pineywoods Pickers on October 17.

Our residents council selected Darwin Stroud for our resident of the month, Mamie Ener and Jana Horton as our employee of the month and Fairdale Baptist Church as volunteer of the month.

Thank you for all the bingo sponsors, Heart to Heart Hospice, April from Texas Home Health, Church of Christ, Parkway Baptist, Juanita and Melissa, and Camille from River City Hospice.

Our activity staff kept us busy and well fed with a lot of treats and activities.

They decorated our home in beautiful fall colors and even made a scare crow to welcome our Halloween guests.

The owners and staff of Hemphill Care Center hosted an open house for our residents, family, and friends. The evening was enjoyable by all who came to celebrate with us.

We extend Happy Birthday wishes to Sybil Smith, Jewel Bass, Margaret Conway, Lora Wilson, Richard Simmons, Carolyn Lyons, Verna Simmons, Frances Cutright, Myra Courson, Mary Howell, and Dwain Rhame.

Our deepest sympathy is extend to the families and friends of Virgil Mackenburg, Winnie Huckaby and James Patterson. The family of Winnie Huckaby hosted a memorial birthday party for her on October 20.

We are all looking forward to our annual fall festival which will be today so we welcome children of all ages and we are looking forward to seeing little ghosts and goblins to come visit with us. We will have treat or treat candy for all.

We encourage everybody to go vote on Tuesday November 6, 2012. Your vote can make a difference. Give America a future on the bright side.
