On The Bright Side

Mary Howell

May 3, is the National Day of Prayer and  is a day set aside for millions of Americans to gather together to  pray for our country.

The theme for this year is One Nation Under God. If there was ever a time in America’s history that we need prayer for our national government, the time is NOW !  Our nation is in such turmoil.  Only prayer and the hand of God can make a difference and bring America back to being a nation under God.

People from all denominations and faiths will take the time to ask God to bless our government leaders from the White House all the way down to our city halls across America.

Our nation was founded upon Christian beliefs by our forefathers who had strong beliefs in God.  Every day should be a day of prayer.  Prayer is a personal communication with God.  We can pray any time or any place.  Prayer has a purpose.  Prayer changes people and changes circumstances in our lives.  Prayer is a privilege that we often take for granted.  Even though our Supreme Court ruled against public prayer in schools, there is no way our government can take away our personal time of talking to God.

The Bible reminds us that when two or three are gathered together in His name, that He will hear our prayers.

2 Chronicles 7:14.  If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Let us pray that America will be a nation under God and one that is on the bright side.
