On The Bright Side

Mary Howell

Now that the holidays are over, it is time to take a break from all of the hullabaloo of Christmas.  The Christmas trees have been packed away for another year and our houses seem to take on a clean look without all the decorations throughout each room.  The Poinsettias have curled up their toes and died and made their way to the garbage dump.  Christmas keepsakes have been carefully packed away for next holiday season.

We are now into the third week of the new year.  We can close another chapter in our lives.  Each year, we write another chapter in our book of life even though we may not take a pen and paper and write down the year’s happenings. From year to year, we collect special memories that are never forgotten.

When bad things happen to us we tend to tuck them away and block them from our memory chest.

The year 2012 opens a new chapter in my personal life.  I have tucked away many memories.  Now I’m ready to make some new memories.  God has been so good to each of us. For those of us who enjoy good health, we should thank God every day for His blessings.

The new year is a good time to say thank you to our friends and families who have made the year the best ever.  Let us take time to enjoy each new day and we could even begin today by saying the Bible scripture verse – “This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

We remember that Jesus loves us.  We will then have a life on the bright side.
