On The Bright Side

Mary Howell

Christmas, 2011 is just around the corner!  It is hard to believe that another year has passed.

Everywhere we look, we see signs of Christmas.  Sabine County businesses are filled with all kinds of gifts which are sure to catch the shoppers’ eyes.  We see Christmas trees decorated with beautiful lights of all colors.

Homes are decorated to the ‘nth degree with brilliant lights glowing in the night time.

Children cannot wait to see what Santa Claus will bring to them on Christmas morning.  Their list may be bigger than Santa’s pocketbook is!

Christmas pageants and cantatas brighten the Christmas season with beautiful music.  We can hear carols on the radio, television and internet.  I love to hear Silent Night, Away In A Manger, Joy To The World and Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.  These are just a few of my all-time favorites.  Songs like Upon The Housetop, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Frosty The Snowman, and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer brighten the days of Christmas for the young and old.

Christmas is a time for giving and sharing our love for others.  Even the smallest gift can brighten the Christmas season for family and friends.

A card or sweet note can mean so much to those who may be spending Christmas alone.

God’s greatest Christmas gift to us was Jesus, who came to bring love, joy and hope to all who believe in Him.  Let us remember that “Jesus is the Reason for the Season”.  May God bless you as you celebrate Christmas with your loved ones and friends.
