No Chop Chili – Receipe from our daughter Kris

Filed under: Grilling (Cooking) — Freddie Keel @ 6:43 pm

If you like a sweet “instant” chili, then you might like this… it requires no chopping, just dumping. brown 2 lbs ground beef and drain.

In pot mix ground beef with: 1 can manwich

1 small can tomato sauce

1 can diced tomatoes w/ onion and peppers (or stewed tomatoes)

1 teaspoon ground red chipolte powder (if you don’t have use hot pepper sauce instead)

2 tablespoons chili powder cook til bubbling then turn down to low for 10 minutes.

Taste and add more chili powder and chipolte to taste.

I tend to go heavy on chili powder. May need salt too.

I like this because I get the peppers and onions in the cans of sauce and tomatoes.

It is not as good as the stuff you chop and make from scratch.

But much better than store bought canned chili. I can have this on the stove simmering in less than 10 minutes with very little kitchen cleanup.

  1. I’m actually screaming…. Chickens, cows, dogs, garden, fruit trees. I sure which I would have listened more to folks gardening, canning, butchering… when I was a teenager. Now I’m trying to learn all this stuff on my own. I was too smart back then to appreciate home grown veggies… or fresh eggs…. or drug free meats. There is no price tag for the simple life.

    • Pa and Mama would be proud of you and your effort to enjoy farm life. With his 5th grade education and her 6th grade education, they could have taught all of us some wonderful lessons about gardening, animals and life if we had just took time to listen.

      • Yep. We are starting to raise chickens. I have three dozen eggs in an incubator that should hatch next week. Shea can’t wait. I’ll start prepping a garden soon. Today I tried to talk Dave into getting me a milk cow. Girls are doing more around the house so I’ll have more time to get other projects going. Maggie is in charge of laundry and Bethany cleans the kitchen. And Shea is mopping floors.
