big bird nest

Filed under: Birds — Freddie Keel @ 8:33 pm

OK, some bird watcher tell me what we have sitting on this nest.  The nest is located in Toledo Bend Lake and is occupied by two of our feathered friends.  They are constantly bringing small fish to their nest.  There are not any babies to be seen.  They do not want you near their nest in this large cypress tree and if you get near, they’ll make a whistling noise directing you to get away.  They have occupied this tree for several nesting seasons.

Road Contractor

Filed under: Misc — Freddie Keel @ 8:25 pm

Just doing some road maintenance on our tree farm road.  We got this truck load of asphalt from our subdivision on Lake Conroe.  They were converting a asphalt trail to a concrete path.  So they loaded our truck and we placed it in the low wet spots on our road.

Kenny can catch BIG CATFISH

Kenny can catch BIG BASS.

Our good friend Kenny is a great outdoors man.  He loves to deer hunt.  He loves to fish the salt water.  He loves to chase the bass and crappie on Toledo Bend Lake at Jack’s 944 Marina near Hemphill, Tx.  But most of all, he loves to eat those fresh caught crappie.  He is quite a guy, a good American and a good friend that is always smiling.

He is so happy because he caught the Big One

The day before this, I caught several nice catfish while we were hand fishing and he did not catch any.  His head was hanging low.  So I started giving him the works.  “Hey Gman, do you want to reel in the next fish as my arms are getting tired.”  “Hey Gman what’s the score, I can’t remember”.  “Hey Gman, how many have you caught”..  I got nothing but a nasty look.

This day,  I did not catch a fish.   And here comes the chatter.  ‘Hey Papaw, my arms are getting tired”   etc, etc, etc…babble, babble…   These kids today don’t got no respect for their elders.
